mum's vintage floral top, china town bracelet worn as a necklace, forever21 shorts and sunglasses
the one thing about my old house's attic is that it was always considered kinda creepy to my siblings and i. the fear was most likely instilled by the story my mum told us about her rummaging through the storage room in the attic one time and the door freakishly closing on her abruptly. the door didn't have a lock but somehow managed to lock leaving her stuck in there long enough to leave creep her out and avoid the attic for months afterward.
but this was many years ago. it never happened again and not too long after, my mum went back to rummaging.
i never really realized what kind of treasures were kept in that attic until last year. nothing really took my interest until we moved out of the house and i had a reason to explore. to my knowledge i always knew that there were special things stored up there, like my mum's handbag collection, and my dad's vintage vinyls and record player. lots of old school stuff. of course, all this special stuff i couldn't touch until now.
what i ended up finding was pretty wicked.
everything vintage from the 80's. from the time when my parents first moved to canada in '79, the clothes they wore up until my bro and i were born, were still there. some crumpled up in a box and others hung on hangers. some needed a good washing but the styles were still evident. styles that are evident in current fashion trends today, but of course the new is more refined.
the photos above taken of me wearing a top my mother once wore. when i found it, i knew it was worth keeping. styles always come full circle. sheer blouses then. sheer blouses now.
i hope that one day when i'm old and wearing depends, my daughter or son can find buried treasures while exploring through my clothes and accessories.
cause i know i did with my mums stuff. too bad i avoided the goodies til now!
